About This Treatment
Toxin anti-wrinkle treatment is a safe and simple injectable treatment that allows us to hit the pause button on the visible signs of ageing.
A protein that is extracted from the bacterium Botulinum Toxin Type A (commonly known as ‘Botox’) helps to relax muscles that make our skin wrinkle. When the muscles are relaxed, the treated areas look smoother and fresher.
The most common areas treated with toxin are frown lines, forehead lines and crows feet. Depending on the age of the skin it is possible temporarily to erase wrinkles resulting in smooth, unlined skin. Other advanced areas such as jowls, necklines and smoker lines can also be treated. In addition to treating wrinkles, it also blocks the nerve connection to sweat glands and is an amazing treatment for excessive underarm sweating (hyperhidrosis).
Results Achieved
The results depend on the type of wrinkle that is treated. There are two types of wrinkles we treat:
- Static wrinkles, which are present without muscle movement
- Dynamic wrinkles, which are only visible when the muscle is moving.
- Toxin treatment can erase visible dynamic lines. Static wrinkles are more engrained into the skin and so their depth determines the result to be expected. In cases when a better result is desired there are additional treatments that combine very well with toxin treatment.

How does it work?
The toxin is injected into the muscle, which causes the nerve connection to be impaired temporarily – this means that when you frown, smile or raise your eyebrows, the muscles don’t contract thus reducing wrinkles.
Can it be combined with other treatments?
Dermal filler – this is often used in combination with the toxin. For deeper wrinkles to be corrected a filler can improve the wrinkle, and the toxin prevents it getting worse again.
Skin treatments – are usually indicated because as good as it is at preventing and reducing wrinkles, it works on the muscle and not the skin. The skin will look smoother, youthful and fresher. Other treatments are usually required to wait two weeks after anti-wrinkle injections.
Is it safe?
When the treatment is carried out in a clinical environment registered clinic by a medically qualified experienced injector, it is completely safe. It also uses a therapeutic dose of botulinum toxin, which is prescribed for your needs. In studies, it is deemed one of the safest non-surgical treatments available.
What is the recovery time?
Immediately tiny red bumps where the skin was injected can appear, and they are massively reduced within 5-10 minutes. If your skin is sensitive, it may be longer. Usually, there is no trace of the injections within half an hour. This is a common lunchtime treatment.
